To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel written by Harper Lee and published in 1960.
The novel is inspired by the author's personal observations of her family and neighbors, as well as an event that occurred near her town in 1936, when she was 10 years old. Its publication was an instant success, winning the Pulitzer Prize and going on to become a classic of American literature.
Nelle Harper Lee was an American writer. She won the Pulitzer Prize-with the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, her only published work for 55 years until the 2015 publication of Go, Set a Watchman, which was written in the mid-1950s, and it was in fact the first draft of her first novel.
“Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win.”
